Viva la Vida. Live Life

Powered by Blogger.
Alright, I admit that this post is mainly for you ladies out there. But hey hey, no discrimination! If there is by chance any of you guys reading this post right now, you are very much welcomed! And of course, do not be ashamed! You're about to learn something new about beauty products very soon!

Anyhows, a quarter of the year has zoomed by us and it's already nearing the fourth month of the year!
To start the post, I want to clarify that I'm not the best at makeup nor beauty products. But of course, some good things are meant to be shared (I've had some girl friends asking me about the products I use daily), so here are my top picks of 10 beauty products for this month! Enjoy! :)

1) The original Beauty blender

This one is the holy grail among makeup tools.

I got this for around S$30 in Sephora Singapore. At first I was like "Why should I spend 30 dollars for makeup sponge which I can actually get for S$5??". But then being the curious me, I bought it and was proven wrong. My makeup blends so much better than when using normal makeup sponge!  This is a total game changer for liquid foundation and concealer application!

2) Tony Moly Perfect Eyes Pro Mascara

Bought this under the recommendation of a retailer at Tony Moly when I was in Korea earlier this year. To you guys out there, you apply mascara onto your eyelashes to make them appear thicker and longer.

The Tony Moly mascara coats on my eyelashes very easily and comes off quickly with makeup remover. It does not clump up and gives the eyelashes much more volume! Pretty good mascara I would say!

3) Inecto Pure Coconut Heat Protecting Leave-In Conditioner

This is one of the best hair product I have ever used. It LITERALLY smells like caramel candy and leaves my hair all prepped up and smooth the next morning. It's hydrating and heat protecting too! Great for protecting my hair from all the damage my straightener does to it. Forgot how much I got this for but it was really cheap! Got this in Boots Thailand.

4) Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer

Colour : Light- medium honey

What's better than a concealer? A waterproof concealer!

I rarely finish any makeup products before throwing them away/ losing them, but this one really holds up the record. I finished all of my previous tarte concealer sticks (same one in the pic) and this one is my third one! The concealer is creamy (not sticky or oily) and gives a really good coverage on my skin. On lazy days, I would just apply some concealer on my dark circles and would be good to go.

5) L'occitane Creme Mains Hand Cream

Scent : Subtle Violet

If you use L'occitane, you'd know that their products normally smell terrible because of their all natural composition. I've used most of their  products - bath gel, shampoo, body lotion, hand cream, lip balm, perfume (you name them) and most of them really don't smell so good! This hand cream leaves your hands super moisturized and is really nice smelling! <3 Recommend to give this scent : Subtle Violet a try!

6) MAC Satin Powder Blush

Colour : Fleur Power

One good thing about MAC's powder blush is that they don't break easily when you drop them on the floor!

I am a pretty clumsy person when it comes to my makeup products, and after multiple drop downs, my MAC blush would crack but still be usable! The previous MAC Blush I had was also in this colour - I got a new one in the same shade because the previous one was getting old. Fun fact : Makeup expires too! This exact blush has been with me for about two years now and is only less than 1/3 used. Super long lasting!

7) Makeup Forever Aqua Liner

Colour : Mat Black

I love everything about a good liquid liner. I have been using this for two good years (My second one. I like to stick to the same makeup product once I'm used to it). I have tried the Maybelline Master Duo, Cyber Colors' 24hr flat liner pen, Maybelline Express Eyeliner, and some other brands before but none of them were as easy to apply as this particular one. This one is pretty long lasting - but it does smudge a little by the end of the day as my face starts to get a little oily.

8) Nars radiant creamy concealer

Colour : Custard

This one was highly recommended by the retailer in San Francisco's Sephora when I asked for recommendation of a good concealer. It does the job of concealing perfectly! However, in my personal opinion, it is a little too oily for my face. Nevertheless, I finished the whole tube of it.

P.S : A lot of beauty gurus raved about this as well!

9) Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm

Colour : Unapologetic

**edited : If you haven't already known, Revlon's Color Burst is the "in thing" early last year. I may have caught the train a little too late but a good lip colour can wait!

Normally, the good colours in the Revlon's Color Burst series were always out of stock when I go to the makeup counter. So when this one caught my eyes during my grad trip, I had to buy it (I bought two in different shades, one for my sister)!

I'd normally use only a layer of this before applying my Nivea lip balm. This one is a must have if you are searching for a pigmented stain! Colour doesn't wipe off easily!

10) Marc Jacobs Fragrance

Scent : Honey

My current everyday perfume. I would normally experiment with different perfume once the current one runs out. I am super fond of all kinds of Marc Jacobs' Fragrances!

Well that's it to my Top Picks for Beauty Products in the month of April! Anyone using the same products as I do? What are your favorite products? I'd love to know! <3

Last of the series! Won't be posting the Taiwan part of our Grad Trip!

In case you've missed out, read Part 1 here, and Part 2 here.
Osaka 4 Days 3 Nights! Enjoy!

Day 1 : 15 December 2014 (Kyoto - Osaka)

Shin-Osaka! Before transfer train to Namba

Cute shop in Namba station

Up the Station.

We stayed in an apartment in Namba (booked through airbnb). The owner gave us the password to our apartment in advanced so that it would be less of a hassle when we reached.

Our Kitchen

Our room

There are two rooms, one bathroom, one toilet and a kitchen in our apartment,

Drawing lots to see who sleeps where

Japanese snacks! The peanut mochi cubes are SO GOOD.

Left the apartment after settling down.

CHEAPEST VENDING MACHINE WE'VE SEEN IN JAPAN.

And of course, piping hot milk tea as heat packs

Sennichimae

Hello INDONESIA! *Indo pride*

Sennichimae is a 20 minutes walk from our apartment and the famous Dotonburi is located in the southeast of Sennichimae.

Dotonburi

Down Dotonburi

You can find Japanese Kit Kats here! They don't have all the flavours but they do have tax refund if you spend over 8000yen (they have Kobe pudding, Hojicha, Uji Matcha Kit Kats!).

The well-known Osaka Ohsho

Takoyaki from the stall with the Giant Octopus as it's sign board. Good but a little watery.

Canal down Dotonburi

The iconic Glico man!

The place around here is basically a shopping district. There are two H&Ms within walking distance and many other famous shopping brands and high-end brands. Spent a few hours here to shop!

Glico Man at night

Shinsaibashi-suji

Shinsaibashi-suji is a NEVER ENDING shopping district! Might take around 3 hours to fully explore the whole street.
DAISO IS A MUST GO HERE. The items in Daiso costs only 100yen each (105 yen plus tax), converting to only S$1.2! The Daiso here is around 3 - 4 storeys high and sells many interesting items you won't find in Singapore and Indonesia!

Revolving Sushi at Dotonburi for dinner!

My top three picks below!

Beef sushi! Never had this before but it's satisfyingly tender!

Explored the vast area of Dotonburi, Shinsaibashi and Sennichimae, and went home pretty late.

Day 2 : 16 December 2014 (Osaka Castle, Mido-suji illumination)

551 Horai Bun for breakfast! This one is popular in Osaka!

Any food piping hot is basically the best during winter

 Off to Osaka Jio area

Entrance ticket is 600 yen

Exhibition Floor (Total of 8 floors)

This place is worth coming by! Although it might be a little boring for some people who doesn't like history, but I myself find it fascinating. Yes, not all the floors are worth exploring in my opinion, but I spent most time at the exhibition floor which exhibited armours. Read through every little detail on the history behind each weapon, shield and armour, describing the cause of damage on every metal pieces!

Left the place after 2 hours

Pokemon Center beside Osaka station!

Famous Gozasoro

赤あん(赤 means Red, for Red bean filling)

白あん(白 means white, for White bean filling)

Personally, I like the White bean filling while RY likes the Red bean filling better. However, I find the pancakes too sweet. I scooped out most of the filling and threw it away because the sweetness was overwhelming. Jacqueline ADORES the pancakes!

Mc' Donalds! Tried the Ebi Fillet-O only found in Japan

Went to the Tenjimbashi-suji Shopping Street near the Kita/North Area, and walked around Hankyu department store.

Hankyu Department store (阪急百貨店)

There was this atrium where we could sit and enjoy the soothing music and sparkly chandeliers. We left after a while to the mall opposite to the Hankyu Department Store - Hep Five Shopping Mall

Ferris Wheel ride at the top most floor of Hep Five (Entrance fee 500 yen).

Up the Ferris Wheel!

Umeda view

Tried Okonomiyaki at the store called Tengu Nishiumeda for dinner! This place is quite hard to find. One landmark near it is the "Breeze breeze" mall.

"DIY" Okonomiyaki. Add sauce, bonito flakes and Mayo to own liking.

The taste is not bad, but I heard there are other better Okonomiyaki stores in Osaka. You can read online reviews of it here (translate the page to English).

Walked to the city hall area after dinner.

 Osaka Hikari renaissance

Light festival in Black and White

Day 3: 17 December 2014 (Shinesekai, Namba, Shinsaibashi)

Walked to Shinsekai (新世界) in Tennoji area early in the morning.

Tsutenkaku Tower

Shinsekai

Okonomiyaki

Kushikatsu

Dipping Sauce

Only 100 yen per stick! RY ordered 9! :O

Mine noms

We splitted into few groups again after our kushikatsu (I was with RY and Jacq). Saw snow on our way back to Namba area!!! Actually more like sleet because it melted once it touched the ground.

Jacq was extremely determined to eat her Gozasoro one last time before we left. She bought 6. And also, we got lost for an hour finding the store because google map was failing us.

One more round

The queue though!

Ate "revolving" sushi once more for lunch and explored Shinsaibashi one more time. Met up with the others for our last dinner in Japan before heading to Taiwan!

Cream puff from Shinsaibashi!

Tried "vending machine" food for our dinner

We ordered and paid through the vending machine, and have our meal prepared and served inside the stall.

Something like this

Day 4 : 18 December 2014 (Osaka - Taipei)

My hands were very dry and had frost bites on them by the end of the Japan trip. So remember to bring your lotion along when going during winter! Heat packs are saving grace as well!

Osaka Airport. SNOW!!!

And with that, I end the last of my Grad trip to Japan series here! :) Hope you enjoyed it!
