Darkwaves speaks the bittersweet in me.
Okay. The name of the indie pop band Darkwaves may be new to your ears. In fact, it was extremely difficult for me to google anything about them for this post, and the very few things I know is that their frontman is called Nick Long.
The first time I came across their music was through my favorite Music Top Charts earlier in October 2014. Though their music lasted in the Top 50 for a week, I felt a deep connection towards the unique aura that the music gave off. It was their debut single and the song playing at the time was "The Heart Beat the Soul". It a was dark, eerie, yet powerful song - I've got to admit that it was strangely addictive! There isn't much lyrics to this song but it's almost as if I could feel the overwhelming loneliness when it was sung.
The genre of the music is different from the usual upbeat or popular songs I normally listen to, however, the acoustic guitar, all together with Nick's voice brings out a mellow, chilly vibe, which was surprisingly close to my heart.
My favourite song by them is "I don't wanna be in love". The lyrics to the song tugged my heartstrings so much it's almost as if it speaks the side of me that I don't normally show. It was a deep, euphonic, and incredible track that it instantly became my favourite jam. I play it so often that even my sister could hum to the melody now! *guilty of brainwashing* lol
