I apologize for my hiatus on the postings, but I'm back! This time it's for all the must try places to eat in Hongkong! Without further adieu! 14 Places in Hongkong you'd never want to miss!
1) Kam's Roast Goose
Having won multiple year after year Michelin Guides in Hong Kong, Kam's roast goose is definitely a must try. Grab it for an early dinner say at 5pm and don't arrive too late (I've been here a couple of times, the first time I came at 6:30 and I got a seat 2 long hours later, the second third time I came at around 5 and got seated almost immediately, but the restaurant was still packed) cause there will definitely be a queue! And of course, they have plenty of geese stocked but they will run out very fast due to their popularity! Tip: You can ask them to reserve you you half/whole goose when asking for a queue number.
Half a roast goose (HKD 270)
I suggest half a goose for three to four people. The goose at Kam's is one of the best in Hong Kong. The oily but not too over oily and Crispy outer skin will melt after taking a few bites. The firm yet non rubbery geese meat wins the prize too!
The "Yuan Yang" sausage (HKD 46)
And don't forget to order their "lap cheong" or chinese sausage. Their liver "lap cheong" is definitely one of the best I've tried. The liver sausage's texture is slightly different from a normal "lapcheong", and in the picture, we got a combination of both sausages to compare.
Braised Geese feet and Wings Combination (HKD 90)
Braised Tofu (HKD 46)
Braised Tofu is also a dish worth trying ! It's soft and flavourful. Also not in the picture, I've tried the BBQ or Honey Glazed Pork belly, it was so so good as well! Do give it a try if you're there!
Overall for the couple of times I've visited Kam's roast goose, I have never been disappointed. Also shout out to the captain (lady manager) there, she's friendly (don't let her stern face scare you), and will talk to you if you're respectful - the first time I visited with my parents two years ago, we had to queue 2 hours and all the queuing chairs were occupied. I politely asked her for an extra for my dad and she took the extra effort to find us some chairs inside the restaurant (although it was busy and packed). Definitely coming back again and again.

3) Hui Lau Shan
Having so many outlets scattered over the whole Hong Kong island, you must be wondering what's the hype with "Hui Lau Shan". Well I'll tell you what the hype is! Mango everything! Sweet ripe FRESH mangoes, incorporated into smoothies, drinks, dessert, everything!
Mango smoothie
Mango chewy ball
This dessert is great for the sweet tooth! I actually like the chewy white balls which are just glutinous unsweetened rice balls coated in mango goodness.
This is soooo good!
Must try their Signature Curry Combo to soften down the sweetness from all the mango dessert! The signature curry combo is actually blew our mind (we ordered it a couple more times)! Curry Fish balls, squid legs, white radish, and many many other goodness dunked in a delicious good savoury curry sauce.
4) Wing Kee Noodles
Wing Kee Noodles
Queue again
This place is not huge but is always filled with people
You get to choose what you like. I got a five combination with noodles. (Approx HKD 50)
I got the beef balls, beef brisket, beef tendons, white radish, and blood. They have a large menu for you to pick from (cuttle fish balls, mushrooms, pork neck meat, fish tofu, etc.), so you get to experiment and eat what you like cooked in a delicious beefy broth.
Beef balls are hand made, taste is slightly chewy and has a good bite to it.
A hearty bowl of noodle soup in good beef stock broth! Great for a chilly night!
5) Simply Life Cafe
Simply life cafe in Hong Kong (specially the Causeway bay outlet) is definitely a must try for all you sweet tooth! I cannot rave about how much I love this cafe that I came back a couple times over multiple trips to hong kong.
They serve freshly baked handmade European style breads and pastries.
All the delicious looking pastries
As usual, there is a crowd of people and requires some queueing. There are multiple outlets but my favourite one has to be the Causeway Bay outlet. The outdoor makes me feel like I'm in some European city alley.
The strawberry cheesecake is "zha dan" - bomb.
Blueberry cheesecake is even better. The blueberries are very sweet and they use fresh cream for this dessert.
Bamboo Charcoal Green Tea Mousse Cake
They offer sandwiches and pasta too. Definitely a great cafe to spend your afternoon in.
6) Lee Keung Kee North Point Egg Waffle
The popular "Gai Daan Zai" or Egg Waffles a lot of asian have grown up eating or begging to have are actually invented in Hong Kong! They are made of eggs, flour, sugar, and evaporated milk. This seem to be simple snack is actually not that easy to make - and some places make them soggy.
Lee Keung Kee North Point Egg waffles is said to be the best and they are! The little egg- shaped waffles are crispy on the outside and warm and slightly chewy on the inside! Not to mention they are very addictive! I like to break them off piece by piece and eat them bite by bite. It's slightly hollow inside and the texture reminds me a little of fried chewy mochi!
The queue is also crazy for this one, but it moves pretty fast, so don't worry too much!
Their curry fish ball is not that great tho. It's too "doughy" imo and the sauce is average.
7) Chee Kei
Beef with Egg Noodles
If you like Hong Kong comfort food or authenticHong Kong styled egg noodles, Chee Kei is the way to go. Their egg noodles are made perfectly (thin, slightly chewy, and with a hint of eggy flavour)
Their wanton (chinese dumplings) noodles is highly rated as one of the best in Hong Kong by many locals!! Definitely got to try this one out!
The best condiment goes to...
Don't skip out a hidden treasure on the table! Chee Kei's XO Sauce is one of the best that I've tried. It's the right kind of spicy and has a tinge of dried scallop taste. It's really that good the restaurant offers bottled XO Sauces available for customers to buy!
8) DIMSUM ICON
This dimsum spot is located at THE ONE Building at Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Okay, let me give a little disclaimer. I want to be honest, the dimsum at Dimsum Icon (back when I tried it in early 2016, not sure if they improved) does not taste good, at all! It's not the freshest, taste is literally below average (sorry), and it's actually very expensive for dimsum standard! Eeep!
Wait why am I actually recommending food that I don't like? And you'll ask me why is it even worth a place on my list? Hear me out! It's actually on this list because it's worth visiting! What??
They literally serve the cutest looking dim sum in the entire world!! I'd go there just for the sake of the cuteness and creativity of it! You can check their facebook page to see what cute characters they are collaborating with at the time of your visit because they change their characters every few months - and this month, they have Spongebob themed goodies - until 31 December 2017!

Aren't they the cutest!! Taken from their facebook page.
Oh and of course, do anticipate a queue! The last time I went, I arrived quite a while even before they open and I had to queue for a good 30 mins still. Not sure about the queue now tho, but they were pretty popular back when they had the Gudetama themed collaboration (end 2015, early 2016)

9) Tsui Wah
Tsui Wah is a Hong Kong tea restaurant with over 26 outlets in Hong Kong, Macau and mainland China! Some of it's outlets even provide 24 hours food services! They offer local comfort food and drinks at reasonable pricing, and their portions are huge too!
Yuan Yang (Coffee and Tea Mixture with condensed milk)
Yuan Yang is a must try drink when in Hongkong because you can't find it in many countries out of it.
They have a wide variety of menu and almost everything we ordered from the menu is delicious! And they have a large menu to pick from.
Hor Fun
Fried Rice (One of my favorite comfort food!)
Prawn Laksa
If you are looking for comfort food, do pop by Tsui Wah! And if you did not have time to visit it while in the city, they have one in the airport food court (of course the menu is not as huge as the restaurant outlets).
10) Big Fernand
Located in Hong Kong's IFC centre, Big Fernand is a French Burger Workshop which caught my eye. Based in France, it's popularity and good review has lead it to open many franchises around the world including Hong Kong and Dubai.
We got the Bartholome (HKD 115) and Big Fernand Burger (HKD 95)
Their home made Lemon and Grapefruit Elixer (I don't think this suits Asian tongues), the citrus flavour is a bit too strong and a tad bit of bitter. I wouldn't order it again.
Grilled Onions inside the burgers gave it a balance to the savoury flavours
The beef patty was great (they grill and serve the burgers on spot), flavours were delicious and there was texture in the burger (crunch from bacon bits, beef patty slight juiciness, stringiness from cheese and a little softness from the onions). What I loved most about this place is that the servers were interactive and fun! The cashier even gave us a free drink and talked to us, which made the whole experience an even better one. Definitely worth trying.
11) 龍皇 Dragon King Restaurant
Located on the 12th Floor of the World Trade Center Hong Kong, Dragon King Restuarant is a chinese restaurant (also offering dimsum) with a great view! I paid multiple visits to this restaurant and tried both, and both their dimsum and chinese food are amazing.
The chinese food tasted great and they offer many delicacies like Abalone, Shark fin soup, and lobster.
Abalone with mushroom
Shark Fin Soup
Dimsum (Carrot cake, my favorite)
Very creative plating of their dimsum (Hot stoned buns and chives)

12) Ho Hung Kee
Listed on the Michelin Guide, Ho Hung Kee offers great Hong Kong Style shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup.
Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup
When we entered the store, we were greeted by a light tiffany blue interior design. The place was decorated nicely and with a modern feel compared to what I anticipated (an old store, since I read it was founded in 1946).
We tried the congee and Beef Brisket noodle soup as well. The soup is a clear broth filled with egg noodles and very fresh Wonton dumplings. The shrimp were juicy, however, the dumplings are a little small. Overall, the food was good, though not extraordinary, but it does perfectly transcribe it's traditional flavours into their dishes.
13) Ten Ren's Tea
Originating from Taiwan, Ten Ren Tea offers fine taiwan tea and bubble milk tea!
Listed as one of the best bubble teas in Hong Kong
There was a period of time where their packaging had the famous comic artist "tu bao"'s creation.
Definitely must try their milk tea with pearls! Ask for less sugar or less ice to your taste!

14) 翠園 Jade Garden
Jade Garden is a long established chinese restaurant in Hongkong. Do expect to queue on weekend around brunch time because that's when the locals will bring their whole family out for "yum cha" - direct translation to "Drinking tea".
The Jade Garden outlet that I went gave us good and fast service, however I have read some mixed reviews on bad and slow service, but so far I haven't read a bad comment on the food!
Chicken Feet
Xiao Lung Bao
Steamed Pai Ku (Pork Ribs) and Black bean sauce
Must order!! "Zha liang". It is a Cantonese dimsum made by tightly wrapping rice roll around you tiao (fried dough). This dim sum will be doused with a sweet savoury soya sauce before it is served.
Overall, this place is a dim sum paradise - of course given that Hong Kong itself is dimsum paradise, there are many many places which offer decent dimsum! They have a huge array of dimsums for you to choose and would be perfect for a Sunday brunch accompanied with chinese tea.
The holidays are coming soon again, and it's time for you to add Hong Kong to the list! Which restaurant are you excited to try out?
