Travel : Skywalking in Grand Canyon

Was clearing up the photo albums on my phone and found some really great pictures from the Grand Canyon trip last December. Although I've been to the States for a total of 5 times, it was actually my first time to the Grand Canyon West rim - so it was pretty exciting when we got to go there!

There are quite a number of alternatives to Canyon from Vegas. Most people will choose to drive themselves out using their GPS. However, if driving is out of the equation, most hotel concierge provide brochures and services to help you book the trip. Otherwise, there is also a tour guide booth located in Caesar's Palace.

Dad didn't allow us to opt for the Helicopter route because he thinks that it's dangerous (the helicopter will do some flying tricks in the canyon), hence we booked a private bus instead. There were around 12 of us (the gentlemen didn't go) and we left for Canyon from our hotel in Vegas at 6am.

First stop was the famous Las Vegas sign!

Just a sign. Not much to do here but to snap snap group photos

Catching the first ray in Vegas! So nice to be up this early!

Our tour guide was a very very friendly person and it was extremely enjoyable to listen to him talk about his wife and everything else from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon to the fox which appeared in front of his house.

Our second stop was the Hoover Dam!

The place was so beautiful and it was also the place where we crossed two time zones - The dam is on the Arizona-Nevada border.

Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Yes, I googled the name.

Such a mesmerizing gradient of blue.. **inserts thought provoking quote here** haha

After a few hours drive with the "Blind Side" (incredible movie, go watch it!) playing on the screen, we finally arrived at Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon was SOOOO cold when we went. In fact, it was only 2 degrees celcius that day! We saw some snow in the desert, which was pretty mind blowing and confusing. Braved the howling wind just to take pictures.

We went to the Hualapai Tribal Lands and did the SkyWalk. There was free shuttle bus rides and lunch included in our entrance fee - around 80 bucks per person including the SkyWalk tickets.

Mandatory pose

Accidental shot but turned out so artsy.

PHONES AND CAMERAS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SKYWALK. They have a free locker to let us keep all our stuffs (bags are not allowed as well).

Because what's the point of going up the SkyWalk without taking pictures right? Here comes their business tactic - there were a lot of professional photographers on spot. They help you snap pictures on the bridge if you want them to, and pay for the pictures when we exit.

Because the pictures turned out pretty good, we forked out another 50 bucks (? or 30 bucks, I forgot) to buy the photo together with a USB stick (we didn't want the printed ones).

New fb profile picture ftw. haha

Mom's coat is actually pretty cool! (and look at the amount of people staring at us...)

Looking down the SkyWalk.

The photographer is the one telling us to do the poses, I was scared sh*tless.

With Mom and Christine

Everyone had to wear this disposable shoe cover to prevent scratching the glass

Another one where the photographer told us to sit on the glass

The Eagle Point. This one was taken in front of the toilet. lol

Had our lunch at the Eagle Point. It was so cold that our food turned cold in the matter of minutes. We had to sit in the very few spots where the sun was blasting its heat on us to feel a little better.
